Two-Day Induction Programme for First-Year B.Com Students

The Research & PG Department of Commerce, St. Xavier's College Vaikom, successfully organised a Two-Day Induction Programme for the newly admitted First-Year B.Com students on 6 & 7 July 2026.

Commencement of FYUGP 2026–27

The Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) for the academic year 2026–27 commenced on 1 July 2026 with great enthusiasm across the state. The statewide inauguration was done by the Honourable Minister for Higher Education, Sri. Roji M. John, who addressed the newly admitted students through a live inaugural session, inspiring them to embrace innovation, academic excellence and holistic development.

B.Sc Zoology Rank Holders

St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, bagged top ranks of Mahatma Gandhi University for the B.Sc Zoology Model II program. Students Anjana Sabu, Parvathy Shinde, Jomsy J Anil, Jomit Benny, and Bhavya B Kalakkal secured the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 8th university positions respectively.

SVEEP 3's Football Tournament Held

The Electoral Literacy Club and NSS units of St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, organized an open-to-all "3's Football Tournament" on March 30, 2026. Held at the college ground as part of the SVEEP campaign, the competitive sports event featured cash prizes to promote democracy and electoral literacy.

Inter-School Elocution Competition Organized

An Inter-School Elocution Competition for Higher Secondary School students was held at St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, on March 30, 2026. Jointly organized by the NSS, Alumni Association, Department of Political Science and Journalism, and IQAC, the contest focused on democracy, media freedom, rights, and justice.

The Ekatha College Union of St. Xavier's College, Vaikom, celebrated its annual College Day on March 6, 2026. Renowned writer and film director Susmesh Chandroth graced the grand event as the chief guest.

National Science Day Celebrations

St. Xavier’s College celebrated National Science Day on March 2, 2026, in collaboration with the Kerala Academy of Sciences. The event at the Mini Theatre featured invited talks by scientists Dr. Rameshkumar K. B. on herbal technology and Dr. Vinoth Thomas on industrial rubber crops.

Faculty Milestone

Dr. Subi Joseph, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at St. Xavier’s College, has been officially recognized as a Research Guide. She will serve in this role at the Postgraduate and Research Department of Chemistry, Bharata Mata College, Trikkakara.

Physics Students Visit Space Museum

The Department of Physics organized an educational outreach programme featuring a visit to the VSSC Space Museum in Thiruvananthapuram on February 18, 2026. The trip offered students hands-on insights into space exploration and rocket technology displays.

Gender Equality Seminar Conducted

The Women Cell and NSS units of St. Xavier's College jointly organized a seminar on "Empowering Gender Equality Together" on February 16, 2026. Adv. Anilkumar V from the Taluk Legal Service Committee, Vaikom, served as the resource person for the event at the Mini Theatre.

Annual Athletic Meet 2026

St. Xavier’s College hosted its Annual Athletic Meet on February 13, 2026, featuring 11 track and field events for boys and girls. Organized by the Department of Physical Education, participants gathered at the college ground for the competitive lineup.

World Pulses Day Celebrated

The Department of Food Science and Quality Control, in association with IQAC, celebrated World Pulses Day on February 10, 2026, with a "Pulses Art Competition." Held under the theme "Pulses of the World: from Modesty to Excellence," the event featured cash prizes for the winners.

Social Media Workshop Concluded

The Department of Political Science and Journalism, along with IQAC, organized a workshop on "Social Media Content Production" on January 28, 2026. Entrepreneur and social media expert Anagha Jayan E led the session at the college's Mini Theatre in partnership with the AYNA Institute of Media.

National Seminar on Democracy

A national seminar titled "The Role of Judiciary and Media in Safeguarding Democracy" was organized at St. Xavier’s College, Vaikom, on January 22, 2026. The event was conducted by the Department of Political Science and Journalism alongside IQAC, in association with the Institute of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Kerala.

Dr. Abraham K.J. is the new Principal

Dr. Abraham K.J. is the new Principal of St. Xavier's College Vaikom. Dr. Abraham K.J., a famous academician, is currently the Chairperson of Mahatma Gandhi University's Expert Committee on Aquaculture. He was also the former Chair of the Board of Studies at M.G. University.
