National Reading Day and Reading Week Observance Held at College
The National Reading Day Celebration and the Reading Week Observance were inaugurated at the college auditorium in a vibrant programme jointly organized by the College Library, Readers Club, and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The event commenced with the welcome address by Ms. Princy D. Nellanat (College Librarian), followed by insightful speeches by Dr. K.J. Abraham (Principal), Bibu V.N. (IQAC Coordinator), Parvathi Chandran (Staff Advisor to the Library), Amala Joseph (Head of the Department of Commerce), and Alan Sam Binu (Student Representative). The speakers emphasized the importance of cultivating reading habits among students to enrich their knowledge, creativity, and lifelong learning.
As part of the programme, a documentary screening on the life of Sri. P.N. Panikkar — the Father of the Library Movement in Kerala was also conducted, paying tribute to his invaluable contributions in promoting reading culture across the state.
The celebration will continue throughout the week till 27th June with daily sessions on book reviews led by students and faculty members, encouraging everyone to explore new literary worlds and discover the joy of reading.
The inaugural day witnessed active participation from students and staff, making it a fitting tribute to the vision of Sri. P.N. Panikkar and a meaningful start to the week-long celebration of books and reading.
