St. Xavier's College Vaikom Hosted Webinar on Gandhian Ideas for a Sustainable Future
VAIKOM, OCTOBER 2, 2025: St. Xavier's College Vaikom commemorated Gandhi Jayanti 2025 by hosting a successful online webinar titled "Gandhian Ideas for a Sustainable Future" on October 2, 2025, at 8:00 PM. The virtual event, conducted via Google Meet, aimed to explore the contemporary relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's principles in addressing global sustainability challenges.
The webinar featured Mr. Roy Mathew, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at St. Xavier's College, as the Resource Person. Mr. Mathew, who has also served as the Head of the Department of Political Science, delivered an insightful session on how Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence, self-reliance, and ecological ethics offered a blueprint for achieving a more sustainable world.
The event demonstrated a collaborative spirit, as it was jointly organized by several key bodies of the college: the National Service Scheme (NSS), the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Alumni Association, and The Department of Political Science.
The college has a history of observing Gandhi Jayanti with educational events, as the Department of Political Science and Journalism previously organized a special exhibition in honor of Mahatma Gandhi's birthday.
